UMC Utrecht is committed to sharing and spreading knowledge. They often collaborate with other organisations in the area of education and training, as well as in research and patient care. One such organisation is the Utrecht Academy for Healthcare. Through this collaboration UMC Utrecht, the university, the university of applied sciences and the Regional Training Centre (ROC) for the Central Netherlands region hope to create an ongoing learning pathway for physiotherapy, speech therapy, physician assistants and nursing - from Bachelor's programmes at the higher professional education level to university PhDs. UMC Utrecht is based in De Uithof. Since its development in the 1960s, De Uithof has evolved into a lively neighbourhood where around 55,000 people work and study each day. As well as knowledge institutions, this area also attracts a lot of economic activity.

Developments

As one of the biggest public healthcare institutions in the Netherlands, employing nearly 11,000 people, UMC Utrecht’s core tasks include patient care, research and education. They have adapted their strategy in response to social developments in the healthcare sector. Uncertainties with regard to the future funding system have played a role, as has the need to manage costs to compensate for government funding cuts.

There is an emphasis on developing and introducing new treatment methods. UMC Utrecht has a particular focus on six areas:
  • Brain
  • Infection & Immunity
  • Circulatory Health
  • Personalized Cancer Care
  • Regenerative Medicine & Stem Cells
  • Child Health

FOR A SUSTAINABLE world

Sustainability that benefits people, the market and the environment is an important element of BNG Bank's mission and is given shape and substance on both sides of the balance sheet. Our sustainable initiatives arise from our ongoing efforts to strike a sustainable balance between the interests of clients, shareholders and employees.
