Solar panels on rented homes

06 November 2015 - Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11)

HuurDeZon, a developer of solar energy projects for social housing, plans to install over 7,500 solar panels on the roofs of rented homes owned by housing association Eigen Haard this year.

The panels have an installed capacity of nearly 2 Megawatt-peak, making this project the largest of its kind in the Netherlands.

At the end of 2014, HuurDeZon reached agreement with BNG Bank and the Municipality of Amsterdam to finance solar panels on the rooftops of a thousand rented homes owned by housing association Eigen Haard.
